Changing how you feel one muscle at a time...
Michele A. Twinchek, LMT has been working in therapeutic massage since graduating from Laurel Highlands Therapeutic Academy in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. After working in public education for 16 years in Charlotte, North Carolina, she decided to switch careers and attend massage therapy school. She received her Masters in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2000. While she loved working with children in the public school setting, she decided it was time to switch gears and move back to Pennsylvania. While in massage therapy school she studied Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Hot Stone Therapy, Reflexology, Cupping, and Lymphatic techniques. She is currently studying Craniosacral therapy through the Upledger Institute. Other therapies she utilizes are myofascial release, trigger point work, chair massage and many others. Within her five years of working as a massage therapist, she has collaborated with doctors, chiropractors and other health care professionals to create the best treatment plan for her clients.

Michele's Therapeutic Massage offers a wide variety of bodywork services designed to bring you relief, comfort and well-being.
The goal of Swedish Massage is to melt away muscle tension and increase the blood flow to your heart. Swedish Massage is extremely therapeutic as it decreases muscle toxins, increases oxygen levels in the blood, and improves flexibility in the body. The therapist will use light to medium pressure to help relieve muscle tension and tightness.
Deep Tissue Massage reaches deeper layers of muscles. It is used to break down knots and relieve pressure points throughout the body. This massage is beneficial for athletes and those who sit for long periods of time. Deep tissue massage provides a more focused, deeper massage to relieve chronic "knots" and improve range of motion.
Hot Stone Massage is often paired with Swedish Massage. Stones are heated and used with oils to sooth, warm, and massage your muscles. This allows your body to relax and release tension and stress.
Gua sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve circulation. Gua sha is intended to reduce inflammation and promote healing. Gua sha may reduce inflammation, so it's often used to treat ailments that cause chronic pain, such as arthritis and fibromyalgia, as well as those that trigger muscle and joint pain.
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on treatment that may provide relief from a variety of symptoms including headaches, neck pain, insomnia, anxiety among many others. CST uses light touch to examine membranes and movement of fluids in and around the central nervous system. Relieving tension in the central nervous system promotes a feeling of well-being by eliminating pain and boosting health and immunity.
Cupping therapy is a form of alternative medicine in which suction is created on the skin with the application of silicone or plastic cups. Cupping is a therapy used in traditional Chinese medicine to remove stagnation and stimulate the free flow of vital energy circulating through the body. Cupping therapy can also increase blood flow, loosens fascia or connective tissue, and is thought to stimulate healing. Cupping therapy also helps to break up scar tissue and reduce pain. The round marks that may appear clearly show the areas that had an accumulation of stagnant blood. The marks will fade in a few days as the body clears away the debris, leaving room for fresh blood to nourish the area. Cupping will often help a troubled area when other therapies wont.
Trigger point therapy is a form of manual therapy that focuses on detecting and releasing trigger points. When stressed or injured, muscles will often form trigger points or "knots" that cause pain and tightness. These knots can restrict blood flow and nerve signals and create referral pain.
